The Tale of the Seven Beggars

Illustrated. The greatest classic of Yiddish mystical literature, combining the profundity of the Kabbalah with the magic of Grimm’s Fairy Tales

The entire book was serialized in 96th of October . In the process of illustrating this, Phil Blank evolved a new style of illustration which appears in the last two installments. The Tree at the Center of the World and The Water Castle. He redid all the earlier illustrations in this new style which expressed the high spiritual content of the work with unerring skill. These illustrations are a dazzling dialogue with the spiritual master who created the tale. They are “constellations by which to steer the barque of the soul.”
