(1943-2018) Alma Mater of the Berkeley street poetry scene was a woman who accessorized with animal bones and jewelry that incorporating big fake eyeballs. That was good enough for us, never mind the poetry.

Oh, all right, let’s mind the poetry. We think her one of America’s finest 20th century poets, and her books, available from Zeitgeist Press, belong between Poe and Aragon on the shelves of all refined gentlefolk. Zeitgeist it should be noted has been publishing some of the most interesting American poetry for many years now, and their entire catalogue is well worth a leisurely look.
