Portraits, Still Lifes, Landscapes, Abstractions
‘Painting’ might seem stodgier than ever, to some, these days, as AI settles in and offers instant ‘paintings’ made of electrons and light. Traditional painting might seem more than ever the product of turgid goo in sealed containers, a pre-made muck that arrives sheltered from air and oxygen. Still, I think we have a primal bond with the stuff. We’ve been painting our bodies with it, our actual flesh, for as long as we’ve been around. Maybe someday we’ll cover our bodies with electrons. But we’re not there yet. The pictures in this book are paintings of people I’ve known, places I’ve been, and things that have caused me to think about other things.
