Fatally Yours

The Uruguayan poet Delmira Agustini lived for only twenty-eight years, from 1886 to 1914. Her first volume, The White Book, appeared in 1907 when she was twenty-one. It established her as a leading exponent of Decadence and Symbolism in the Spanish-speaking world. Her work created a sensation through its figurative but unambiguous descriptions of female sexual awakening and desire.
